Rap is one of the greatest lyricists to ever hold a mic.¬¨‚Ć If you listen to his old material from ’89, it demolishes anything on the radio 20+ years later.¬¨‚Ć So, imagine me hearing this back then.¬¨‚Ć It was like a shot into the future of what lyricism is.¬¨‚Ć His 2nd verse in “Road to the Riches” has so many rhymes inside of each bar, it’s crazy.¬¨‚Ć That, and add in the fact he’s telling a semi-story and describing the rich lifestyle in metaphors with vivid pictures.¬¨‚Ć This style became a blueprint for my rhyme style because it was a combination of what Rakim is along with the gangsta lifestyle of Ice-T.¬¨‚Ć Imagine my excitement when an album came out with a song with Kool G. Rap, Scarface, and Ice Cube! Ha!
