Artist: Geto Boys

The great thing about Hip-Hop back then was that it was evolving and spreading from NYC to other parts of the country/world.¬¨‚Ć Once the South got a grip on it, the Geto Boys were created.¬¨‚Ć I heard “Do It Like A G.O.” on Video Music Box and couldn’t believe what I heard!¬¨‚Ć These dudes were wild as hell!!¬¨‚Ć Yelling on the mic looking crazy!¬¨‚Ć I loved it.¬¨‚Ć The cuts on the record were insane and the beat was hard as fuck!¬¨‚Ć But listen to the lyrics!¬¨‚Ć These dudes were kickin’ some rhymes and coming hard.¬¨‚Ć I took notice immediately.¬¨‚Ć Willie was ridiculous on the mic and kicked knowledge.¬¨‚Ć They had a rapping dwarf!¬¨‚Ć A Dwarf!!¬¨‚Ć And he’d kick your ASS!¬¨‚Ć But it was Scarface (aka D.J. Akshun) that caught my attention on the album.¬¨‚Ć He had a song on their debut album that included these three plus D.J. Ready Red, the self-titled The Geto Boys called “Scarface”.¬¨‚Ć The last track, “City Under Siege” is worth an influential mention.¬¨‚Ć Their ability to relate street-wise yet kick knowledge from a southern perspective showed me new lingo, knowledge, aggression, yet always intellect, good story-telling, and unity.
