See…You can’t simply walk into a movie theater during a Fast & Furious franchise flick and expect Shawshank Redemption Part 2. You have to expect some corniness, one-liners, and off-the wall directing style. That said, this flick was a thrill ride from start to finish. Over two hours long, this episode in the series features newcomers Jason Statham, Tony Jaa, Djimon Hounsou, and Kurt “Snake Plissken” Russell and falls in line somewhere after Tokyo Drift. The rest of the crew is back in action starring Paul Walker, Vin Diesel, The Rock, Ludacris, Michelle Rodriguez, and Tyrese Gibson.

So, at the end of the last movie, we saw Jason Statham kill off Han so he’s the antagonist in this feature. Everybody goes after him and gets in a world of hurt because he’s The Transporter and that’s the way it’s supposed to be. First up is Dwayne Johnson who plays The Rock who plays Hobbs. Statham is hacking Dwayne’s computer and of course, this goes into full beast mode with realistic scenarios such as boot kicks to the face and leaving no bruises. Going through multiple glass walls, landing on broken furniture and no cuts. Being blown up 10 stories up, landing on a car with a hot woman on your chest and only having a temporary broken arm. Life is good when you’re The freakin’ Rock!!

Meanwhile Groot Diesel and Paul Walker get their home blown up and Paul has to choose between a comfortable life with his pretty lady and happy son or speedy cars, bullets, blood, and terrorists. Paul chooses the latter because he misses the bullets. So, off the team goes to get Jason Statham since he’s hunting them all down one-by-one. Wonder Woman is dead. Han is dead. Bow-Wow needs to die but somehow must’ve made it through…. Leti (M-Rod) is still suffering from memory loss and freaks out a few times only to have Snake Plissken bring her back for a mission to find a mysterious hacker. The hacker is obviously hot and fits into the rest of 100% of everybody on the screen. By the way, LA, the Middle East, and the Dominican Republic don’t have people who aren’t cut, or anything more than a size 5. So, if you’re trying to visit and fit in, you better hit the gym. The camera WILL avoid you.

It was good seeing Tony Jaa get some screen-time and although the story was silly with fast cars and the U.S. black ops division hiring Vin Diesel instead of military experts to obtain extremely sensitive materials which is a threat to international security, it was very entertaining and James Wan’s directing actually fit in. Being Paul Walker’s last F&F movie alive, they ended it on a great note and had him leave the series on top with an open-ending….yet, still knowing it’s his last. That was the most perfect thing in the movie. So, adrenalin rush, great lines delivered by Tyrese, hot hacker, 3 million car which flies through buildings…. it’s a definite Go-To for the weekend. Shut off your brain and have a blast!
