MC Lyte
If you haven’t heard of MC Lyte coming up, then you need to brush up on your hip-hop. Coming out in the late 80’s, I heard of Lyte after getting into the Audio Two where her brothers Milk and Giz were chillin’. I saw the “Paper Thin” video and fell in love, bought the album and became a fan. Probably the first of the female emcees I could really get down with. Shante was cool but Lyte could hold her own against anyone without trying. See “Self Destruction” for proof.
