iOS 7? Sure…but WTF Apple?

I’ve always loved my iPhone even before I got it.¬¨‚Ć I had the iPod Touch and knew that Apple’s iPhone would resemble it and I waited until my Blackberry upgrade got ridiculous in pricing before jumping ship to an iPhone.¬¨‚Ć ios 7 - WTF Apple? Get it together!Since then, everything has been smooth.¬¨‚Ć It does what I want it to do:¬¨‚Ć Email, make phone calls, connect to my movies from home, update my calendars across Google accounts, talk-to-text, etc.¬¨‚Ć It even helped me write my book as I spoke to it while driving (yeah, yeah).

Well, now it’s time to update to iOS 7, the latest operating system for the iPhone.¬¨‚Ć Granted, I’ve had iOS7 for the past month and a half due to early betas and downloading.¬¨‚Ć So, it’s no big deal to get the official Alpha version today like everyone else.¬¨‚Ć I knew there’d be a rush so I wasn’t in a hurry but before running night errands, I wanted to do what I always did, download iTunes and then update my iPad and iPhone… And then it happened.¬¨‚Ć Something Steve Jobs would NEVER have allowed….a stupid error.¬¨‚Ć A simple one, really.¬¨‚Ć But dumb.

After updating to iTunes 11.0.5, I tried to update my iPad to the new iOS 7 and instead receive this error:¬¨‚Ć “A new iPad software version (7.0) is available, but requires iTunes 11.0.5. Would you like to download iTunes 11.0.5 now?”¬¨‚Ć Wait…but I ALREADY AM RUNNING 11.0.5.¬¨‚Ć So, what’s the deal?¬¨‚Ć I try again and it says the same thing. So, I take it to the internet and see others are having the same problem.

Is it because I’m on a Mac?¬¨‚Ć Is it because I’m running Lion and not Mountain Lion?¬¨‚Ć What the fuck, Apple?!

Twitter is expressing the same problems I am:

SOLUTION

So, then I look around and people online are saying to update to iTunes 11.1.¬¨‚Ć Ok, I wish the update would’ve said that but maybe it’s a glitch.¬¨‚Ć No…You visit http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ and it only shows 11.0.5. (Since I’ve been typing this, it FINALLY updated to 11.1).

So, with the update to 11.1 after hours of complaints, let’s see if this works. Apple, get your shit together. Steve is probably going to put a virus in all of your asses for something this big to have such a fail. I hope you can pull your asses back in gear ’cause if Siri doesn’t work, then it’s game over! Hope you don’t have to update her to Siri. 2.3.1 or something.

By the way, iOS 7 is nothing ground-breaking. It just looks different and has a few new features but it’s not innovative by any stretch of the imagination. I’m not one looking for a whole lot of bells and whistles so I wasn’t disappointed. But if you’re looking to connect to the Mars space rover using your phone and make it dance to “Single Ladies”, then you’re out of luck.
